A few days ago A Day of Toplica Uprising was celebrating in Prokuplje.   After a fairly soc-realistic performance, "Public Service of Serbia" (God forbid if we wrote 'Serbian public service!), a documentary about Toplica uprising was broadcast.  In that documentary it was said that Bulgarians were especially persecuted Serb's women. The reason was that they came to the conclusion that Serb's women were the firmest nationalists!!! For Bulgarian nationalists and occupiers that was very important, because the occupier enforced strong Bulgarisation of Serbian population. In a situation where the vast portion of male population was in Serb's Army on the Salonika front, Serb's women stayed as a force confronting the Bulgarian occupier, defending Serb's value, beside the guerrilla, Chetnik, forces. Let's get to the point ...  Many of the songs have been sung, books written, monuments were built, medals awarded, stories told about Serb's soldiers, vojvodas, generals, officers, Chetniks, all the heroes of the Great and the other wars that had been fought for freedom of Serbia. However, a few books have been written, songs sung, the story told, medals distributed, the monument erected for the heroic Serb's women, who had been bravely, with dedication, during occupation guarded our homes, family, children, Serb's nation and the Kingdom of Serbia, while the Serb's army was out of the Fatherland at the Macedonian front! Therefore I'm calling the whole Serb Nation to erect a huge monument of gratitude, recognition, love and respect to Serb's Women, in Belgrade, at Kalemegdan, over the two biggest rivers Sava and Danube!!! The monument - THE MOTHER SERBIA !!! Our Women have been and still are the most beautiful face of Serbia! Nothing Serbs could do without them! They are our mothers, wives, girlfriends, goddesses... They preserve, educate, love, give us strength and beautify all in Serbia. And beside all of that they are listed among the 10 most beautiful women in the world. Respect!!!...... [LG]

On October 21, 2016., iDATE ADVICE posted a nice piece "Dating Serbian Women: The Essentials, by Jade Seashell (contributor), author of “A Seductress’ Confession: How to leverage beauty and savor tantalizing pleasure”.    The text was nicely written, but to my surprise, no comment was added. That is a kind of improper, because it is a common knowledge that we Serbs adore, respect, and cherish our women.  They are our best part. They give us strength, and bravery, and support, and wisdom. Every woman is a Goddess, because she has the ability to give life! Serbian women are the best in the World, and the only one for us.

THE VIEW THROUGH THE FOREIGN WOMAN'S EYES - HOW IS TO DATING SERB MAN?

It’s a summer time, vacations are on the doorstep, we’ve been writing about a number of heavy topics, so maybe it's time to relax with some easy summer theme. 
Once upon a time, I've asked my very good American friend, who - unlike the most Americans - had been travelling the whole wide World a lot, if there was something specific, something unique, something different from any other country he had been to, he observed to Serbia? To my total surprise, the answer was - "Your attitude towards children". I have never noticed anything extraordinary in our behavior towards children, of course, so I asked him to tell me in more detail. He said that we were very careful and gentle to children. Not only to our own but someone else's, too, without exception. On the street, in a restaurant, when a child approaches someone, this person always has a kind word, smile at him, strokes his hair, and even play with him. He told me that he didn't see anything similar anywhere in the countries he had visited except in Serbia.

So, some things that are ordinary to us, could be quite extraordinary to somebody who is viewing from the side. The following story is of that kind:

A friend and I were recently in a café in my neighbourhood when a young Canadian girl approached us and introduced herself. She had overheard us speaking English and from our conversation realised we were foreigners, like her, living in Belgrade.
