No shit! Everybody new that, except our visionary politicians. Or, may be, they new, too. Presidential elections are on the verge. Perhaps a Parliamentary, even. Small challenge to show patriotism, independence, determination of our political and state leadership is required. Politicians arranged the war at Balkans, why not the peace, as well. Just before the elections in Croatia, somebody in Serbia, conveniently, burns a Croatian flag. Just before the elections in Serbia, somebody in Croatia, conveniently, blocks Serb's accession to EU. A little help from our friends in the hood, won't hurt. There are no better and more devoted friends than neighbors. They are always ready to help. Everybody pushes us to EU against our will. So, thank you "always the same", neighbors for being the last barrier for us to prevent our entry into the EU. You are our only friends. Thanks a million. HOW A RUSSIA VS. NATO WAR WOULD REALLY GO DOWN

ast week saw a flurry of news reports that Putin's Russia could "steamroll" NATO forces in just five days, winning a quick victory in the Baltics that would drag Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania — and perhaps even Poland — kicking and screaming behind a new Iron Curtain.

Is it really possible that Russia, a shadow of the former Soviet Union, could accomplish this? As always, the truth is more complicated.

Michael Carpenter, deputy assistant secretary of defense for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia, told Congress he agreed with a think tank study that concluded NATO could not currently defend the Baltic States against a lightning Russian military campaign. The report says the three tiny countries, which collectively muster 11 battalions of mostly lightly armed troops, are no match for the 46 battalions of tanks, mechanized infantry, paratroops, marines, artillery, surface-to-surface missile, and attack helicopters Russia has stationed in the region.

Reconceptualizing The Balkan Peninsula

The Balkans are the most geostrategically important region in Europe today, and truth be told, they’ve held this role for centuries before, despite whether or not various Great Powers acknowledged this at the time. The purpose of the current study isn’t to meticulously analyze the past, but to define the present and forecast the future. The cusp of their contemporary importance is in serving as a geographic facilitator for two Russian and Chinese megaprojects that aim to penetrate the ‘unipolar continent’ with unshakable multipolar influence, and herein lays the reason why they’re the second most likely to fall victim to Hybrid War. All of this will be thoroughly described in the proceeding sections and parts, but prior to that point, it’s absolutely necessary for the reader to reconceptualize their understanding of the Balkans in order to better comprehend the strategic logic behind Moscow and Beijing’s ambitious geo-economic plans.
